Crumbling pillars

Before going inside, we noticed the deterioration of the columns holding up the overhang sheltering the porch. Not sure if it is just the trim, though it did seem to extend beyond the edge.

I would think there is damp penetration via moisture collected on the plinths. Interesting detail shot
