When I was visiting my mom in Chicago in September, she showed me an article from the Tribune about a county in Indiana with covered bridges. Parke County IN is about three hours south of Chicago, right on the Illinois/Indiana border. It reportedly has 31 covered bridges, most original, and most still in use. So instead of heading straight home, we spent an extra day on the road and visited a half dozen of the bridges and other rural and small town sights.
