This old house sits almost across the street from yesterday's cleaners. It appears to be at the end of the commercial district and is the first (former) residence from the central cross streets.

Welcome to all. I began blogging Retained-Images in 2004 at My-Expressions.com. It is gone now.

I walked on google map in the small town of Witakers, to see the status of other buildings. The city has very few inhabitants. I like to see these wooden houses and I realize that compared to the images that you show, they are not in the same state

@yoshimiparis: Of course I choose to photograph buildings that display the distress I am interested. There might be dozens, or even hundreds, of well maintained, nicely landscaped family homes, but they are not the ones I choose to show. I do feel there is little commercial commerce in the dowbtown area of the town.

houses have a lot of character, I love

@yoshimiparis: I believe that house had a "for sale" sign up when we passed.

Hiro from Kyoto, Japan

It's so photogenic, but if there are a lot of abandoned houses around there, I would be a bit scared.

10 Jan 2019 9:57am

@Hiro: yes, there is some risk in exploring the sketchier neighborhoods and entering the deteriorating buildings, but I and some friends are willing to assume the risk

What a pity, once this was a beautiful house, where people lived pleasantly. (perhaps)

I love the wrap-around porch in the front! I bet it was the place to see action in the commercial district back in its day.

I'm really enjoying your images of this old, sadly dilapidated town... You're giving it new life by giving us this tour.

A house that may have been painted by Hopper, but it's badly damaged!
Well done.
