Mial Church

This rural north Carolina Church is unused but not abandoned. The doors and widows are tightly sealed, the lawn is unmowed but not overgrown. The surroundings are mostly agricultural fields, but there are a couple of residences nearby. Across the gravel road was a large cornfield partly harvested. After walking around the church, we also explored the cornfield. (BTW "Mial" is the correct spelling. I believe there was a Mial plantation here in the 1800s).

Welcome to all. I began blogging Retained-Images in 2004 at My-Expressions.com. It is gone now.

It is a pity that this charming wooden church is no longer in operation. She's really pretty and black and white suits her. I love simple churches like this one

Beautiful composition with the trees all around . The church is part of the life of this place and is not neglected even if not used.

Cette église est magnifique avec cet immense arbre qui semble la protéger, c'est vraiment dommage qu'elle ne soit plus en "activité" !
Ton noir et blanc est superbe aussi !

Awesome range of tones captured in this infrared composition!! Excellent textures as well. You make me want to go inside when you mention everything is tightly sealed. :-)

@sherri: thanks - the people I talked to just called "the church on Mial plantation," or the "Mial church." Searching Oaky Grove, I see that I was uninformed.

A beautiful image of this country church. I love how it is not manicured. It just looks like it is naturally there.
