The greenhouse next to the roses featured of these little stubby shrubs with incredibly complicated trunks and roots. THe guide explained these were lilac bushes that they moved outside in easly summer. On each trunk they hand grafted dozens of lilac twigs which sprouted into full blooms which they harvest into lilac bouquets for sale at the flower mart.

A perfect image for the "Strength" theme. Nature is capable of tangling roots while keeping the tree healthy. These roots are spectacular.

An eye-catching find in these gnarly roots! I love how you included empty space toward the bottom, as if the roots are advancing downward. The tones and textures are superb in this B&W composition. I still have yet to understand the process of hand grafting.
