This is one of the photographers from my Faroe Islands workshop last year. The buildings behind him are the port that I featured day before yesterday. The bench provided a resting place, but I was intrigued by the inscription. Google Translate identified it as Danish and interpreted is as gibberish. When I forced the translation to "new Faroe" it translated it as:
" he gets a port, which waits, and a port, which ror" which is clearly incomplete.
If I had to guess, I would hope it said something like "he has a home port that waits while he goes to a far port."
(Hey, I never claimed to be a poet!)
Welcome to all. I began blogging Retained-Images in 2004 at My-Expressions.com. It is gone now.
@Marie: colloquial expressions often make no sense when translated word for word!
@Adoois: The Faroe Islands
@Remus: maybe he did, but I will never know
